A Cozumel Christmas

Cozumel , Mexico
possibly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been:
white sand
blue blue water
colours , food , and people
all of which were tasty.
ahhha

this girl was precious.
"are you a mermaid!?"
*runs away*

The third day there, we went on a Jeep tour of the island.

it was a bit windy

The Mayan ruins were SO interesting. Cozumel was the center of Mayan folklore: the most sacred place in the empire for the Mayan people. Because we were there just days before the famous date; December 21, 2012, we received an interesting and truthful take on the myth.

Our guide said that there are a few things wrong with the North American view on it all.

#1 - The date the Mayan people wrote on the calendar is not December 21.
It's December 23.
that blew all the socks off of the group
#2 - It actually marks the renewal of the earth. Mayans believe that life is a cycle: everything from their architecture, to their calendars, run in circles. Every 26,000 years, there is a large astronomical cycle. Mayans believe that this is a time of great renewal for human beings.

I guess he was telling the truth. We are all still here.
The most excitement on the 21st was a bit of rain, and an epic beach-volleyball game.

tequila tasting.
¡sauld!

the ocean in cozumel is absolutely amazing:
crystal clear
bright turquoise
and perfectly magnificent in all the right ways.

i also made a little friend while at a gas station...

apparently they have racoons in Cozumel
that like bananas
and act like cats
and pick food gently out of your hands, as to leave you screaming at it saying
"BE MY FRIENDDDDD PLEASE!"
