new year's eve was awesome!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i've been doing a lot of reflecting on this past year.
i'm wearing a beaded dress { from bootlegger } that i received from mother and father for Christmas!
감사합니다 엄마와 아빠 .. 사랑해
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i've been doing a lot of reflecting on this past year.
it's been strange, exciting, confusing, and clearing
it's been a year of many changes.
I spent 1/3 of it in South Korea ,
1/3 of it as a babysitter/Law office clerk/Celtic Festival coordinator ,
and the final third as a student.
i've finally figured out what direction i want to steer my life in
made new friendships
met people who have changed my life , much for the better
listened to a lot of new music
&
chopped all my hair off
what a year!
woah !
now, it's time to reflect on this past year's biggest fashion trends
and what i think of them.
{ in no particular order }
#1 - 90's
1- Short Sleeved Lace Crop , TopShop , £15.00
2 - Grunge Stripe Jumper , Wolf & Badger , £400.00
3 - Animal Devore Mesh Corset Top , Polyvore , £26.00
4 - Lurex Lace Crop Top , Miss Selfridge , £25.00
5 - Fringe Crop Top , Rare , £15.00
6 - The Hellbound Platform Shoes , UNIF , $259.00
7 - Satin Pink Ballet Platform , Jeffrey Campbell X Wildfox , $179.00
8 - Das Boot Platform Shoes , UNIF , $239.00
9 - Helga Platform Boot , Nasty Gal , $180.00
10 - Lita Quilted Stud , Jeffrey Campbell X Nasty Gal , $129.00
i've seriously taken a liking to this surprising trend. going back only 2 decades, Crop Tops and Platforms have become all the rage for people born in the decade.
Is it nostalgia? Going back to our mother-decade makes us feel comfortable?
Regardless; this trend needs to stay.
And if it doesn't,
Ima wear it anyways.
#2 - Grunge
Lead into nicely by the first 2012 trend, grunge is probably the most popular and wide-spread trend.
Not a classic goth, these 2012 teen witches use contrast to take the scary edge off. One of my favourite examples of this is
I HATE BLONDE
this trend was great! it's takes a great deal of commitment, though.
platform boots are kickass
but with prices running well over the $200.00 range
you better like the boots you purchase.
Although I lack in the boot department, I have definitely taken cues from I HATE BLONDE for mixing patterns and creating interesting contrast.
I also LOVE the garter tights under shorts -- maybe i'll explore this a bit more in 2013 !
#3 - Coloured Hair
obviously this trend is good
my hair has been an array of crayon colours.
i can't wait to dip into the box again
and see what comes out..
: )
I AM A GO BIG OR GO HOME KIND OF WOMAN
I'M NOT A HUGE FAN OF THE DIP DYE / OMBRE HAIR
DYE THE WHOLE THING PINK
OR DON'T DYE IT AT ALL
...but that's just my opinion...
#4 - Printed Leggings
is the
best
thing ever
80 CAD per pair.
sad llama.
#5 - Neon
1 - Angle Johnston Lazer Cut Dress , Dolls Kill , $89.00
2 - Adore Neon Sandal , Pleaser USA , $29.00
3 - Neon Tote , Marc by Marc Jacobs , $654.99
4 - Neon Rose Blush , Topshop , $23.00
5 - No She Didn't Lipstick , Lime Crime , $16.99
6 - Carnival Cut Out Dress , Naven , $270.00
7 - Neon Stencil Necklace , COCONUT LACE , Price Unknown
I am on the fence when it comes to neon. I own a few pieces myself, but I find that the line between edgy and tacky is too close for my liking.
Also, neon {yellow} looks better on people with a tan
{ a department that I definitely lack in }
so I tend to shy away from the colour.
If this trend doesn't stick, I won't be sad to see it go.
#6 - Beanies
hate it.
the incredibly laid-back vibes from wearing it don't gel with me.
looking like a hobo is not fashionable
no matter how much the blazer you are wearing is.
1 out of 10 stars
but only because of Ronny, the biggest hobo in my life,
and her spring hobo pant collection
#7 - Heeled Sneakers
1 - SNOW LEOPARD CALF-HAIR LOREN SNEAKERS , Giuseppe Zanotti , $438.00
2 - See Wedge Sneakers , Chloe , $324.00
3 - Leopard Sneaky Wedge , Dolce and Gabanna , $545.00
4 - Studded Lace-Up Wedge , Charlotte Russe , $30.00
5 - High Top Wedge Sneaker , Boutique 9 , $239.00
totally pensive about this ..
it seems that anything under $200.00 is .. well ..
kind of ugly.
this was trending in Korea much before transferred to Canada. The shoes over there were o.k
{prime example of korean wedge sneaker}
and by o.k , i mean i would never wear them.
most korean people wore them as a way to fake a bit of height , with style as an afterthought.
Granted, Korean people love their clothing.
And would never wear something that wasn't cute.
So.
It's not all that bad. For them.
Wear if you dare .. no judgement here.
Just confused looks.
honorable mentions for 2012 trends:

STOP WEARING THEM
PLEASE

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
but most importantly,
my prediction?
